Hafthor "The Mountain" Bjornsson took center stage once again in Columbus, Ohio, winning the Arnold Strongman Classic for a third consecutive year, with Mateusz Kieliszkowski finishing a close second and Martins Licis taking third. The competition featured six events across two days, with unique implements provided by Rogue Fitness, including the monstrous "Wheel of Pain," a Husafell Stone replica, and the centerpiece of the final event, the iconic Cyr Dumbbell.

  • Everyone thinking Mateusz should've won doesn't understand the point of these competitions. It's just as much about strategy as it is moving the weight. Brian Shaw talks about this quite often. Individual performances on an event are meaningless since all these guys are capable of doing crazy things with the right preparedness/rest, it's a marathon not a sprint. Thor won the marathon, but Mateusz is damn good at sprinting.

    • World records are completely irrelevant to anything to do with the competition. Strongman is about being efficient in everything, thats why contests test every aspect of strength, and kielz wasnt complete enough to win, whereas thor placed top 3 in every event I believe.

      Wild BillWild Bill8 måneder siden
  • They need to change that point system. It's ridiculous Mateusz to be the winner in 4 of 6 events, with WR on Cyr dumbbell, with best time ever on timber carry, record distance on wheel of pain, and best time on stones and all that to be just regular 10 points. There should be bonus points for all that. Thor didn't even try to broke his record on elephant bar. I know that Mateusz has relatively weak deadlift and squat but he dominate everything else.

      megin namegin na5 måneder siden
    • @Maximuz that's false. they all count the same by points. Mateusz won 4 events, but Hafthor was only 1 or 2 places behind him in those events. That being said, Thor was 7 places ahead of Mateusz in Deadlift. So basically being 2nd and 3rd in 3 events gives you more points than winning 2 and placing low on the 3rd. This kind of scoring system rewards consistency, you don't get special points for winning an event you get just 1 point more than 2nd place.

  • Mateusz won 4 of 6 events but still lost because of the damn deadlift. If he improves his DL he sure will be a force coz apart from DL he is good at everything else especially the stones and dumbell pressing. I've never seen anybody like mateusz who is 330 lbs yet stronger or at par in strength with guys weighing over 400 lbs. Kieliszkowski is the future.

    • @Travis Dowling yeah 22k USD is quite a bit, average monthly salary in Poland approx 1k USD so not too shabby however with all effort to and what really cost them to feed/supps/roids etc plus accommodation, flights etc it's simply mind blowing to get 22k minus taxes...break even for 2nd place - everyone else MUST have plenty of sponsorship. Pity that's all
