  • Like I know this stuff works with points and stuff. But seeing a guy win 4/6 events and the other 2/6. Feels to me strange that Thor won. And like I said I understand the point system etc, but imo just doesn't feel right. If you get first 4/6 times. Maybe they should give you extra points, if you win multiple events.

  • Hafthor looked massive. This dude is a genetic freak. Just think if this was back in the 1300's. This dude would be looked at as a god, books would be written about him, how he picked up 300 pounds stones and moved them. We would read the books and never believe it. We are watching something that might never been done like how Thor is doing it. Like i said. He's a genetic freak.

  • Kieliszkowski losing overall while winning 4/6 events sucks big time. If he could only step up his deadlift game he'd take this title!

    BigcubefanBigcubefan8 måneder siden
  • The scoring in this event is all wrong... if it were more sensible, like 10 for 1st, 7 for 2nd, and 5 for third, then Kielszikowski would have run away with it. Having a bunch of also-rans outlift him in the deadlift destroys his score in the current system. As a former high performance athlete, it is obvious to me that Kielszikowski has been the standout best since he lifted that stone 5 times, 2 years ago. I appreciate that the deadlift is a significant strength event, but it doesn't reflect well on the overall concept of "strong man" that one technical event remains the same every year, and the other events vary and change the rules on technique. This doesn't even account for the fact that Hafthor is also freakishly TALL, giving him a substantial bonus in the bag-over-bar. Conflating "strong" with "tall" is another error. So basically Hafthor's 2 event wins were in events that he has a technical, or unfair height, advantage. All Kielszikowski did was win the other 4. If the event were composed of novel feats of strength, instead of highly-practiced, technical events like deadlift, Kielszikowski would run away with the competition. I respect the sport of strongman enough to say they should fix it. The deadlift is a huge outlier in the results. If one of six events does not correlate with the results of the others, then clearly it challenges different faculties, and is a flaw in the competitive model. If Michael Phelps won every swimming stroke but one, we would all agree that the outlier is fundamentally different. It's time for strongman, as a sport, to recognize the absurdity of a 4 out of 6 event winner placing 2nd.

  • I'd like to see this modified as far as timing goes. I'd give them maybe 1 min, but the clock stops during the time the guys are placing the weights for the lift. One min of actual lift attempt time vs the longer time with an indeterminable amount of wasted time that is not the lifter's fault.
